I'm not trying to be a shill for Xfinity, but I tried multiple devices

and finally had Comcast send me one of their xFi Gateways. It out performed every other router by more than a little bit. I've had it for nearly 2 years and have had ZERO problems.
Dual band, the 2.4 GHz band covers the entire house plus patio and most of back yard.
The 5 GHz band covers entire house, but not the back yard.
I'm getting nearly 500 Mbps with the 5 GHz and approximately 70 Mbps with the 2.4 GHz.
(based on Ookla Speedtest) Your results may be different based on the internet plan you've chosen. My Roku is an older one and only sees the 2.4 GHz network, but it streams everything without problem. I have 6 cameras, multiple outlets, garage door, 2 ipads, 5 Amazon Echos, 2 computers ...handles everything without a blip. The Internet access never goes out unless there is a power failure.
